Skills & Training

Overview

A good stepping-stone to finding employment is to make sure you have some training in the right skills for the job that you want.  For some jobs it is about completing competency training (e.g. Responsible Service of Alcohol) or it might be establishing a training pathway that will lead to ongoing career development (e.g. from an Certificate IV and apprenticeship in Building to a Diploma in Building and becoming a foreperson).

Throughout the Northern Rivers, jobseekers can find support and services to get you into the right training courses, identify a pathway for your ideal career and even connect you with employers.

If you are an employer, the same service providers can be a valuable way to connect with possible employees, apprentices or trainees.

Registered Training Organisations

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) in the Northern Rivers region play a vital role in delivering vocational education and training (VET) programs to individuals seeking to gain new skills or enhance their existing ones. RTOs collaborate with industry partners, employers, and government agencies to provide a wide range of courses that cater to the diverse needs of the local community.

RTOs in the Northern Rivers region offer a comprehensive selection of vocational courses across various industries. These courses encompass fields such as business and administration, hospitality, construction, healthcare, community services, information technology, and more. By offering these courses, RTOs enable individuals to develop industry-specific skills and knowledge, making them more employable and capable of meeting the demands of the local job market.

The best way to connect with an RTO is to first identify the courses you are interested in and then view the list of providers and their locations.  Start here on the Skills NSW website
